Trai, my green iguana

The green iguana is a reptile of the kingdom Animal, phylum Chordata, class Reptilia, order Squamata, family Iguanidae, genus and species Iguana iguana. They originated in Central and South America primarily but have gradually moved into the southern United States, especially Florida.

The green iguana was one of the first reptiles to become a household pet however they are not a beginner reptile and require a great deal of care, the proper environment, and food to thrive. Many of these creatures were bought by people , and never lived to see their first birthday or became severely deformed from improper care.

The first green iguana I would like to introduce is Trai, a male adult iguana, born 7-1-2007, in Key West, Florida, given to me by a veterinarian in Key West. Trai is a very friendly, tame animal but that is not always the case with adult iguanas. He has been handled daily most of his life, and always had his needs met.
