Angel is a 9 year old, born October 2013, rhinoceros iguana that I obtained from a local breeder when he was 2 weeks old. It took him almost 2 years to calm down enough for me to handle him but can be managed now most of the time unless you have food in your hand. They originated in the Dominican Republic. Angel is a very intelligent animal but does have a mind of his own. He now weighs about 6.71 kg and is continuing to grow They can live up to 40 years in captivity if well cared for. He is friendly with visitors that come to my sanctuary but can be aggressive at times especially when shedding.
